INEC Launches Phase III of Voter Registration in Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the commencement of Phase III of the nationwide continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled to begin on May 11, 2026, and conclude on July 10, 2026. This announcement was made in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Commission, Dr.

Rose Oriaran Anthony. The registration process will occur simultaneously through online pre-registration and physical registration at designated centers across Nigeria.

INEC explained that this phase will operate under a rotational system, which was previously adopted in Phase II, to ensure an orderly and efficient registration process. The exercise aims to facilitate the registration of eligible Nigerians who have not yet registered, allow for the transfer of voter details, and provide opportunities for replacing lost or damaged permanent voter cards.

This initiative is part of INEC's efforts to strengthen inclusive participation in Nigeria's electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections, which are scheduled for January and February 2027.
