Dabiri-Erewa Encourages Diaspora Athletes to Invest in Youth

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, called on Nigerian athletes living abroad to actively nurture young African talent in sports and education through mentorship. This appeal was made during her meeting with Nigerian basketball star Ejimofor E.

J. Anosik and Ibrahim Famouk Doumbia at the Nigerian Diaspora Commission headquarters in Abuja.

Dabiri-Erewa commended the Meta Africa Sport Foundation for its commitment to empowering young African athletes and promoting mentorship. She emphasized the significant role of the diaspora in advancing human capital development across the continent.

Anosik noted the importance of giving back to society and highlighted the foundation's efforts over the past five years, including mentoring hundreds of young Africans and donating nearly 3,000 pairs of basketball shoes. The foundation also plans to organize a basketball tournament in Nigeria later this year to discover and groom young talent at the grassroots level.
