Daily Trust Foundation to Launch Journalism Academy in 2026

The Daily Trust Foundation, the non-profit arm of Media Trust Group, is set to launch the DTF Journalism Academy and a free digital learning platform on October 27, 2026, at 12 noon in Abuja. This initiative aims to enhance professional development among journalists in Nigeria by providing access to continuous training through seminars, workshops, conferences, webinars, and other capacity-building programs.
Dr Theophilus Abbah, the Foundation’s Programme Director, stated that the academy will collaborate with local and international organizations to equip journalists with essential skills and knowledge to adapt to the evolving media landscape. Additionally, the free digital learning platform, developed in partnership with Bayero University, Kano, will offer courses in media and communication.
The launch event will feature Dr Kole Shettima, Africa Director of the MacArthur Foundation, as the Guest of Honour, and Musikiliu Mojeed, Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times and President of the International Press Institute, will deliver the keynote address. Representatives from various media and journalism organizations are also expected to attend.
