Dangote Cement Launches Tree Planting Initiative for Sustainability

Dangote Cement PLC, under the leadership of Col. Hemant Rana, the Division Director of Transport, has launched a large-scale tree planting initiative in Obajana, Nigeria, to commemorate the 2026 International Day of Forests.

The company disclosed that it distributed seedlings to 13 schools, aiming to plant hundreds of trees. Col.

Rana highlighted the vital role forests play in regulating climate, supporting biodiversity, and providing essential resources for humans. Mr.

Abdullahi Aliyu, representing the Division Director of Transport, emphasized the company's commitment to educating and inspiring stakeholders to take practical steps against deforestation and environmental degradation. Mr.

Olumid Balogun, another key figure, urged stakeholders to support and nurture the trees to maturity, marking the day as a reaffirmation of the company's commitment to environmental sustainability. The initiative aligns with the theme of the 2026 International Day of Forests, which focuses on the economic role of forests in providing jobs and sustaining livelihoods.
