Dangote Group Names Pontsho Mokoena Chief Risk Officer

The Dangote Group announced the appointment of Pontsho Mokoena as the new Group Chief Risk Officer, effective March 2026. This strategic move aims to strengthen the company's risk management and governance structures as it continues to expand its industrial footprint across Africa.

Mokoena will be responsible for enhancing enterprise risk management, insurance, and digital transformation across the group, supporting strategic decision-making to advance the company's Vision 2030 growth ambitions. Prior to joining Dangote Group, Mokoena served as the Executive Risk Officer at Barloworld Limited, where she led the company's enterprise risk architecture and insurance programs across multiple jurisdictions.

She has chaired various governance structures, including investment committees and audit risk committees. Mokoena holds an Executive Doctorate in Business Administration focused on predictive risk management from the Paris School of Business, a Master of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Leicester, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Business Finance and Insurance Risk Management from the University of Witwatersrand.

Her appointment reflects Dangote Group's commitment to strengthening enterprise risk oversight as it scales operations across Africa.
