Dangote and Aiyedatiwa Plan Major Free Trade Zone in Ondo

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, of the Dangote Group, met with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to reaffirm plans for developing a large-scale industrial free trade zone in Olokola, Ilaje Local Government Area, Ondo State. This initiative is designed to attract manufacturers and reduce infrastructural constraints for investors.

During the meeting, which took place at the governor's office in Akure, Dangote emphasized the need for a power-driven investment hub that would enable investors to operate without delays. The proposed Olokola project aims to go beyond conventional free trade zones by being fully equipped with power, water, and logistics infrastructure.

This is intended to address Nigeria's long-standing power deficit, which has been a significant constraint on industrial growth for over 30 years. The governor welcomed Dangote's renewed investment drive, describing it as a major milestone in Ondo State's industrial agenda, and noted the strategic location of the state along the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway corridor.
