Aiyedatiwa Launches Committee to Revive Olokola FTZ Project

On Monday, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State inaugurated a technical committee to fast-track the reactivation of the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ) project, which has been dormant for nearly two decades. The initiative aims to transform the Olokola corridor into Nigeria's largest industrial free trade hub, following renewed interest from the Dangote Group.

The project, originally conceived in 2005 as a joint initiative between Ondo and Ogun State governments, is strategically located along the coastline with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean. The committee, chaired by Chief Bode Sunmonu, includes members with proven expertise in infrastructure, finance, law, and project management.

It is tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of legal instruments related to the project and will interface with various stakeholders, including the Dangote Group and relevant federal agencies. Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized the urgency and transparency required for the committee's work, with a six-week timeline for submitting its report.
