Dangote Refinery Rejects 15.5 Million Barrels in Q2 2026

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) reported that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery rejected approximately 15.5 million barrels of crude oil offered by producers in the second quarter of 2026. The NUPRC's Q2 2026 report indicated that producers offered a total of 68.1 million barrels to the refinery, of which it accepted 52.6 million barrels, equating to 78% of the volume offered.
The refinery required 63 million barrels during this period. The NUPRC stated that the offered volume represented 98% of all offered crude.
The report is part of the NUPRC's assessment of compliance with the Domestic Crude Supply Obligation (DCSO), which mandates oil producers to supply crude to domestic refineries as per the Petroleum Industry Act. The NUPRC's spokesman, Eniola Akinkuotu, noted that a total of 53.7 million barrels of crude oil and condensate were supplied to local refiners between April and June, achieving a performance rate of 97.4%.
The commission attributed the improved DCSO performance to increased local oil production and long-term supply agreements.
