Dangote Refinery Denies Petrol Sales Suspension Claims

Dangote Refinery has officially responded to allegations regarding the suspension of petrol gantry sales, stating that such claims are false. Anthony Chiejina, spokesperson for Dangote Group, emphasized that the refinery is still operational, processing 700,000 barrels per day.

Reports indicated that the refinery was selling petrol at approximately N0.779 per liter, equivalent to around N1.075 per liter. Despite the refinery's stable pricing, private depot owners have reportedly increased their ex-depot prices by N100 per liter, with prices ranging from N1,200 to N1,225 per liter.

In contrast, the retail price of petrol in Abuja and surrounding areas remains unchanged, selling between N1,155 and N1,205 per liter. The situation has drawn attention across Nigeria's downstream oil sector, particularly following the refinery's recent decision to suspend the sale of refined petroleum products in naira.
