Minister Darma Confirms Plans to Exceed 100,000 Housing Units

Muttaqha Darma, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, stated that the Federal Government will surpass the target of delivering 100,000 housing units set by President Bola Tinubu. This declaration was made during an inspection of the National Housing Programme estate and the Renewed Hope Civil Service Estate in Dukpa, Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Darma emphasized the housing and construction sector's role as a significant employer, noting that over 1,900 individuals were employed during the excavation phase of a project involving 110 blocks of two-bedroom flats. He highlighted the sector's contribution to economic activity through local employment and construction-related businesses.

As construction progresses, the number of jobs is expected to increase, involving various workers such as machinery operators and artisans. Darma expressed confidence in the ministry's ability to exceed the housing delivery target before the end of President Tinubu's first tenure.
