Dauda Lawal Wins Governor of the Year Award in London

Dauda Lawal, the Governor of Zamfara State, was honored with the Governor of the Year award at the Triangl International Magazine's 10th annual lecture held on Thursday at the Grand Hall, King's College, London. The award, presented by Sulaiman Bala Idri, recognizes public and private sector leaders whose leadership significantly impacts service delivery.

Lawal's achievements, particularly since his inauguration on May 29, 2023, were highlighted, including his commitment to his campaign promises despite inheriting an empty treasury. His administration has focused on rescuing and rebuilding Zamfara State, implementing innovative strategies to curb insecurity and advance education.

Notably, the state government has made swift payments of outstanding debts to WAEC and NECO, totaling over N3.4 billion, and has initiated the reconstruction and rehabilitation of schools across 14 local government areas. The event was attended by notable figures, including Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Sahara Group's GMD Kola Adesina.
