David Umahi University Launches AI Centre for Innovation

David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, located in Uburu, Ebonyi State, has officially launched its Centre for Artificial Intelligence Application. This initiative aims to advance technology-driven education and research, following a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Centre of Intelligence of Things (CLOTH).

The partnership, established with the University of Greater Manchester in the United Kingdom, is designed to promote AI research, innovation, training, and practical applications across various fields, including health sciences and computing. Prof.

Jesse Uneke, the Vice-Chancellor, stated that the centre reflects the university’s commitment to equipping students and staff with essential digital and AI competencies. Professor Nkeiruka Folaranmi has been appointed as the anchor for this partnership, collaborating with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and faculty members.

Celestine Iwendi, a visiting professor affiliated with CLOTH, will guide training and research activities, contributing his expertise as a globally recognized Nigerian scholar.
