Davnotch Raises Prize Money for National Tennis Championship

Davnotch has increased the prize money for its annual national open tennis championship, with the men's champion now receiving ₦1 million, an increase from the previous ₦800,000. Emmanuel Ochei, the Managing Director of Davnotch, announced this change during the conclusion of the sixth edition of the tournament held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The prize money increment is part of Davnotch's efforts to boost player welfare and align with global best practices. Yusuf Abubakar, the men's champion, expressed gratitude for Davnotch's support, highlighting the importance of such resources for personal growth in tennis.

Ogunjobi, a top female player, acknowledged Davnotch's role in inspiring athletes. Additionally, Yusuf Wasiu, a men's wheelchair tennis player, noted that Davnotch's sponsorship has revitalized wheelchair tennis in Nigeria.

Andrea Usoh, the women's wheelchair tennis champion, emphasized that the support has provided a sense of belonging and focus for athletes. The Nigeria Tennis Federation named the central court after the late Dayo Akindoju, a former president of the federation.
