Cult Clash in Ilorin Leaves One Dead, Three Arrested

On March 6, 2025, a violent clash between rival cult groups in Ilorin led to the death of at least one person and caused panic among traders and worshippers preparing for Friday Jumaat services. The incident unfolded near the Ilorin Central Jumaat Mosque and Oja Oba Market, where gunshots were heard, resulting in chaos as people sought safety.

Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo confirmed the incident and reported the arrest of three suspects identified as Abdulrashe Ham (aka Baniq), Abdulgannen Abdulafeez (aka Jagaban), and Muham Nuhu Wahab (aka Honor). Items recovered from the suspects included a locally made silver pistol, live ammunition, and cult insignia.
