One Killed in Cult Clash at Ilorin Central Market

On Friday morning, a violent clash between rival cult groups occurred at the Ilorin central market, Oja Oba, resulting in the death of one suspected cultist. The gun battle erupted around 12 noon, creating chaos among the numerous petty traders and shoppers present.

Witnesses reported seeing blood on the ground and hearing gunshots near a military police operational station, which heightened the panic among the crowd. In response, police quickly evacuated the body using a Hilux pick-up van and urged motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area, particularly Emir Road, Ita Ajia, and Gambari, to prevent being caught in the crossfire.

During the incident, one suspect, dressed in white native attire and carrying a small fashion bag, was apprehended and taken away by the police. Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing.
