Nigerian Cooking Gas Prices Drop: 10 Cheapest States Revealed

The Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) disclosed a decline in the average retail price of cooking gas in December 2025, providing relief to Nigerian households. The price drop was evident across states, with significant variations in prices.

The average price for a 5kg cylinder of LPG fell from N5,425.78 in November 2025 to N5,360.43 in December 2025, marking a year-on-year price drop of 25.31%. Kaduna recorded the highest average price, while Katsina and Gombe emerged as the cheapest states for purchasing cooking gas.

Olatunbosun Oladapo, the immediate past president of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM), predicted further price drops nationwide. According to a Vanguard report, Abuja saw liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) being sold at N1,090 per kilogram, down from N2,000 just a week prior.
