Death of two female councillors not political – Lagos APC

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims linking the recent deaths of two female councillors to politics. The deceased councillors, Oluwakemi Rufai and Zainab Shotayo, passed away within a week and less than a month of taking office, leading to speculation of political undertones.

The APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, refuted these insinuations, stating that the deaths were not politically motivated but rather a natural occurrence. Oladejo emphasized that death is inevitable and should not be politicized.

The APC in Lagos has been supportive of women's participation in governance and has made deliberate efforts to ensure inclusivity in political representation. The party remains committed to promoting gender inclusiveness in politics and condemns any attempt to interpret the councillors' deaths as politically motivated, deeming it unfair and inhumane.
