APGA Demands Senate to Vacate Abaribe's Seat

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State has urged the Senate to declare the seat of Enyinnaya Abaribe vacant after his resignation from the party. This call was made during a press briefing in Umuahia, led by former member of the Abia State House of Assembly, Obinna Ichita.

Ichita asserted that Abaribe voluntarily resigned from APGA and was not expelled, countering claims of a leadership crisis within the party. He emphasized that Abaribe's departure violated constitutional provisions, as he was elected on the party's platform.

Ichita maintained that the mandate belongs to the party, not to individual office holders, and that Abaribe's exit should lead to the declaration of his seat as vacant. APGA's state chairman, Sundai Onukwubiri, and public relations officer, Chukwuemeka Nwokoro, reiterated that Abaribe has distanced himself from the party's activities.

Abaribe defended his position, claiming his actions were within constitutional rights, stating he was not a member of APGA anymore.
