“Declare State of Emergency in Two States”: ADC Tells Tinubu, Lists Them

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Zamfara state due to a surge in violent attacks that have reportedly claimed 140 lives in the past two months. The party criticized the federal government's response to the crisis, citing a recent massacre in Malumfashi, Katsina state, where 30 worshippers were shot dead inside a mosque and 20 villagers were burnt alive in their homes.

The ADC condemned the governor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for holding a political meeting on the day of the massacre, calling it insensitive and poorly timed. The party's call for a state of emergency reflects growing public frustration with the escalating violence in the northern region and the perceived inadequacy of the federal government's response.
