Ahoada West Chairman Condemns Ritual Killing of Woman

Panic has gripped the Ogoda community in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State following the discovery of the decomposing remains of an unidentified young woman at a riverbank. The woman is suspected to have been abducted and killed for ritual purposes, with some body parts reportedly missing.

Her remains were recovered by security agencies and the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Eugene Epelle, who visited the scene on Sunday afternoon. Epelle condemned the incident, promising that anyone responsible would face legal consequences.

He assured residents of improved security in the area. Chief Tom Obutu, the Paramount Ruler of Ogoda community, stated that the woman was allegedly abducted by a group of boys from a neighboring community, killed, and mutilated before being dumped in the river.

He urged law enforcement to increase their presence to protect residents. The remains have been deposited at a mortuary, and the State Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify the woman and apprehend those involved.
