Adamawa Governor Fintiri Demands Appointees to Defect

On Wednesday, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced an ultimatum for political appointees, instructing them to either defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or resign from their positions within 48 hours. This directive was communicated through a statement signed by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosik.

Fintiri emphasized that political appointees are expected to uphold the policies and programs of the administration, and those who align with a party that poses a risk of sabotage or obstruction to the implementation of policies would be required to resign. The governor mandated the Secretary to the State Government to compile and verify a list of affected political appointees for compliance monitoring.

Non-compliance within the stipulated timeframe will lead to immediate termination of appointments and cessation of salaries and benefits. Fintiri's statement reflects a clear stance against divided loyalties within his administration, particularly as some major political appointees have refused to join the APC while remaining in the People's Democratic Party.
