Wike Critiques Bauchi Governor Amid ADC Political Strife

Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, has publicly criticized Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for inconsistency regarding the political maneuvers within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The ADC is currently facing internal strife as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced it would not recognize the leadership of David Mark, who leads the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ADC, until a court appeal is resolved. Bala Mohammed, who is also the party's national chairman, has called on INEC to respect a March 12, 2026 judgment from the Court of Appeal.

Meanwhile, a coalition of ADC members visited Bauchi State to discuss strategies, indicating a potential shift towards wooing members from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the crisis-ridden People's Democratic Party (PDP). The political landscape remains tense as both Wike and Mohammed navigate their respective party affiliations and ambitions ahead of the upcoming elections.
