Retired General Rabe Abubakar's Death Sparks Outrage

Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar was abducted alongside his wife, Hajiya Amina, by bandits on May 30 along the Marabar Musawa-Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area, Katsina State. His death, attributed to complications related to diabetes and hypertension, sparked widespread anger and calls for an investigation into the allocation of trillions of naira for defense and security operations.

Family members, including his daughter Khadija Rabe Abubakar, expressed their heartbreak over their father's death and the ongoing captivity of their mother, emphasizing the trauma and pain of burying their father without her. They criticized the government's failure to protect its citizens and called for urgent action to rescue Hajiya Amina.

A condolence visit from a delegation led by Major General M. Abdullahi on behalf of Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede was reported, but family members declined to comment on broader security issues.

The family had previously negotiated a ransom of six million naira, of which one million naira was paid before the situation changed.
