Defence Minister Calls for Unified Security Approach

On June 13, 2026, General Christoph Gwabin Musa, the Defence Minister of Nigeria, called for a unified whole-of-society approach to tackle the country's evolving security challenges during the Nigerian People's Strategic Conference on Defence at the NAF Conference Center in Abuja. He stated that national security cannot be achieved through military efforts alone and must involve strong collaboration among government, institutions, the private sector, and local communities.

General Musa identified contemporary threats such as terrorism, banditry, cybercrime, and infrastructure vandalism, which are often supported by local networks. He outlined a framework for a modern security ecosystem based on three key pillars: effective government leadership, coordinated investment in local defense industries, and strengthened community partnerships built on trust.

Additionally, he emphasized the need for public-private partnerships to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities. The conference also featured contributions from Deputy Speaker Rt.
