DICON Institute of Technology Inaugurated in Kaduna

On Wednesday, Dr Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, inaugurated the DICON Institute of Technology in Kaduna, emphasizing its role as a pivotal element in Nigeria's future industrialization of the defence sector. The institute was established to promote self-reliance in defence production and to bolster the military-industrial complex in Nigeria.

Matawalle highlighted the historical reliance on foreign sources for defence capabilities, which has adversely affected national security and industrial development. He commended the leadership of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), particularly Maj.-Gen.

Babatunde Alaya, for their efforts in realizing this project. The minister urged the institute's management and academic staff to strive for excellence and to collaborate with industry and academia to foster innovation.

He assured ongoing federal government support in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Alaya noted that the institute aims to fill gaps in innovation and human capacity necessary for Nigeria's military-industrial advancement.
