Nigeria's Defence Minister Advocates Tech Transfer in China

General Christoph Gwabin Musa, the Nigerian Defence Minister, embarked on a high-level visit to Beijing to advocate for technology transfer aimed at bolstering the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and its local manufacturing capabilities. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to deepen defense security cooperation between Nigeria and China.

The visit, as stated by Leah Katung Babatunde, the Minister's Special Assistant on Media, seeks to accelerate the modernization of Nigeria's armed forces and enhance indigenous military production capabilities. During the visit, the Nigerian delegation engaged with senior executives from NORINCO and toured the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) to explore advancements in defense technology.

General Musa emphasized Nigeria's commitment to integrating emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, into its national security architecture. The week-long mission also included a meeting with Nigeria's Ambassador to China, Lt.

General Abdulrahman Dambazau, who expressed support for advancing Nigeria's defense interests.
