Defence Minister Criticized After Borno Bombing Incident

Defence Minister Christoph Gwabin Musa is under scrutiny due to rising insecurity in Nigeria, particularly following a deadly bombing in Maiduguri, Borno, on Monday that left at least 23 people dead and over 100 injured. The attack has raised significant concerns about the worsening security situation in the country, especially in the northeastern region.

Residents described scenes of panic as emergency responders rushed victims to nearby hospitals. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), represented by Executive Director Ishaq Akintola, condemned the attack and called for urgent measures from the Defence Minister to address the ongoing violence and protect vulnerable communities.

Akintola highlighted the alarming loss of life and the serious gaps in the nation's security framework, urging Musa to fulfill his responsibility to safeguard Nigerian lives and property. The rising casualty numbers and patterns of attacks in northern Nigeria have prompted calls for immediate action to enhance security measures across the country.
