Defence Minister Promises Action on Kidnapping Crisis

On Saturday, Gen Christoph Musa (retd), the Defence Minister of Nigeria, assured the Federal Government's commitment to ensuring the safe release of kidnapping victims across the country. Speaking at the Southern Kaduna Grand Command Award during the 2026 Southern Kaduna Festival, Musa acknowledged the ongoing challenges posed by kidnappers and pledged to continue efforts for the security and freedom of those abducted.

He urged residents to unite and cooperate with security agencies, emphasizing the importance of credible information in combating insecurity. Musa's remarks came in light of recent kidnapping incidents, including the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State, where 15 gunmen attacked a school in Ogbomoso.

He called on President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to negotiate for the victims' release. Musa reiterated the commitment of the armed forces and security agencies to protect lives and properties across Nigeria.
