Defence Minister Praises Oyo School Rescue Operation

On July 10, 2026, a successful operation led to the rescue of 10 pupils and a teacher who were abducted from the Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota Community, Ahoro Esinlori Local Government Area, Oyo State. Defence Minister General Christoph Musa, retired, praised the operation's success and highlighted the need for greater inter-agency collaboration to combat terrorism, kidnapping, and organized crime.

The operation involved personnel from the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the National Security Advisory Tactical Team. General Musa paid tribute to security personnel who lost their lives during the operation and assured that the Nigerian government remains committed to supporting the families of fallen personnel.

He reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to strengthening military operational capabilities and enhancing national security through sustained investment in modern military platforms and intelligence capabilities.
