Delta CP Yemi Oyeniyi Warns Against Torture, Unlawful Detention

On Wednesday, during a strategic security meeting, Yemi Oyeniyi, the Commissioner of Police for Delta State, issued a warning to security outfits against engaging in unlawful detention, torture, and dehumanizing treatment of individuals. He stressed that security personnel must operate strictly within the law and collaborate with the police to conduct their activities.

Oyeniyi highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline within security ranks and urged leaders of these outfits to identify and remove any criminal elements among their members. He directed that any person arrested by security outfits should be promptly handed over to the nearest police station.

The meeting, attended by deputy commissioners and leaders of various security groups, aimed to enhance intelligence gathering and sustain patrols in rural communities to curb criminal activities across Delta State.
