Delta Governor Mourns Victims of Train Derailment

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori mourned the victims of the Warri-Itakpe train derailment that occurred in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, resulting in four fatalities and multiple injuries. In a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary Festus Ahon, Oborevwori described the incident as a tragic heartbreak, expressing condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The state government activated emergency response measures to support the victims and coordinated rescue efforts at the scene. The governor directed the Commission for Special Duties to work alongside the chairmen of Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas to supervise rescue operations.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation confirmed the serious accident involving the train service, with ongoing assessments of the situation. As of Monday, 35 injured passengers received treatment at three hospitals, with 13 admitted to Central Hospital Agbor, 12 treated at General Hospital Owa, and 10 receiving care at another facility.
