Three Feared Dead in Warri-Itakpe Train Derailment

On Monday, the Warri-Itakpe train service experienced a derailment, resulting in three passengers feared dead. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirmed the incident, stating that an emergency response team and relevant authorities have been dispatched to the scene to provide assistance and assess the situation.

Kayode Opeifa, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NRC, is closely monitoring the developments. The NRC has committed to issuing further details as investigations and rescue efforts continue.

The cause of the derailment has not been disclosed at this time. The Warri-Itakpe rail corridor is a significant standard gauge rail line in Nigeria, linking Delta and Kogi states and serving thousands of passengers traveling between the South-South and North-Central regions.
