Delta Governor Awards N20m to Spelling Bee Champion

On Friday, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori rewarded Great Chinedu Okediachi with N20 million for his victory at the World Spelling Bee Championship held in China. The announcement was made at the Government House in Asaba, where the governor received the championship trophy from Okediachi and officials from the Ministry of Secondary Education.

Oborevwori highlighted the significance of education, stating it is the greatest legacy for children, and noted that Delta State's investment in education is yielding international success, referencing the state's participation in the World Schools Debate Championship in Doha, Qatar, the previous year. He praised Okediachi's parents for their support and recognized Madonna International School's role in his achievement.

Commissioner for Secondary Education Dr Kingsley Ashibuogwu called the victory a landmark achievement for Delta State, Nigeria, and Africa. Okediachi expressed gratitude to the governor and committed to further academic excellence.

Additionally, Prof. Epiphany Azinge awarded Okediachi support for his university education in recognition of his achievement.
