Delta State Targets Illegal Revenue Collectors on Highways

The Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS), under the leadership of Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, issued a press statement on Wednesday, reiterating its ban on unauthorized revenue collection on highways across Delta State.

The agency expressed concern over individuals and groups exploiting the public by setting up illegal roadblocks to collect revenue on behalf of the state government. Ighrakpata clarified that DSIRS has not appointed or approved any private revenue collectors or tax consultants for the 2026 fiscal year.

He emphasized that any unauthorized individuals or groups, including colluding local government agents and unscrupulous police officers, would face legal consequences. The chairman urged the public to report illegal checkpoints and extortion attempts to law enforcement agencies.

He reaffirmed DSIRS's commitment to transparency and compliance with national fiscal regulations, ensuring a conducive business environment in Delta State.
