Delta State Approves N34bn for Police Headquarters

The Delta State Government, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the construction of 25 modern divisional police headquarters across its local government areas, with a total budget of N34 billion. This decision was announced by the state Commissioner for Works, Charles Aniagwu, following a meeting of the State Executive Council.

The initiative aims to bolster security in the state, particularly in light of the federal government's move towards implementing state police nationwide. The project also includes the establishment of a Special Police Protection Unit (SPU).

Aniagwu emphasized that despite Delta being one of the safest states in Nigeria, there is a need to enhance security measures further. The council also approved several other initiatives across different sectors, including road infrastructure, to improve connectivity and boost socio-economic development in the state.
