Delta Police Arrest Two Suspects, Recover Firearms

On September 9, 2026, operatives from the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU) of the Delta State Police Command arrested Chukwuka Nzete, also known as “Ododo,” in Isupe Community, Ndokwa West LGA, for suspected involvement in the illegal sale and proliferation of firearms. The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation, which led to the recovery of one pump-action gun, four dagger knives, one battle axe, and pots containing substances suspected to be charms from Nzete's residence.

He was taken into custody as investigations continue. Additionally, on September 12, 2026, operatives from the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) arrested Joel Iwomi, 36, in Obiaruku after he resisted their attempts to search his residence, where they recovered one pump-action gun and eighteen live cartridges.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, reaffirmed the command's commitment to preventing criminal access to illicit firearms and urged residents to report suspicious activities.
