Delta Police Arrest Seven Maphite Cultists in Delta State

On July 27, 2026, operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit of the Delta State Police Command arrested seven suspected members of the Maphite Confraternity during a raid in Issele-Uku. The suspects, aged between 20 and 26, confessed to their membership during preliminary investigations.

The arrested individuals are Promise Esenjor (26), Wisdom Victor (23), James Wisdom (25), Chinedu Munonye (22), Onyemakonor Collins (20), Unah Oluchi (21), and Azomani Favour (23). Recovered items included one double-barrel gun, seven live cartridges, one cutlass, a Maphite cult beret, seven Android phones, and other incriminating materials.

The police spokesman, Superintendent of Police Bright Edafe, confirmed that investigations are ongoing. In a separate operation on the same day, police in Abraka arrested Wale Morakinyo (27) while foiling a planned gathering of suspected criminals, recovering two locally fabricated pistols and four live cartridges from him.

Efforts to apprehend other fleeing suspects are ongoing.
