Delta Senator Nwoko Pushes Bill For Ranches In 774 LGAs, FCT

Delta Senator Ned Nwoko has introduced a bill in the Senate to establish ranches in all 774 local government areas and the Federal Capital Territory. The proposed legislation aims to modernize livestock farming, enhance food security, and curb open grazing.

Senator Nwoko emphasized the need for a Ranch Management Development Agency to regulate compliance, resolve disputes, and oversee ranch operations. He highlighted the bill's potential to create jobs, reduce clashes, and boost Nigeria's agricultural economy.

Nwoko, who serves as the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, urged government support for the initiative. If passed into law, the bill is expected to benefit Nigerians by promoting environmental sustainability and safeguarding land rights under the Land Use Act.
