Just In: Top Northern Gov Takes Action To Create 13 Extra LCDAs, Gives Reasons

The Gombe State Government has introduced a bill in the State House Assembly to create 13 new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in addition to the existing 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs). Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya aims to enhance governance at the grassroots level, improve service delivery, and promote inclusive participatory democracy.

The proposed LCDAs will serve as administrative subdivisions of the existing LGAs, focusing on addressing local needs such as security, healthcare, infrastructure, and social services. The bill includes the establishment of Interim Management Committees (IMCs) to oversee the operations of the LCDAs until substantive local elections can be held.

Governor Yahaya has urged the State to consider the bill promptly and has called for citizen support of the initiative. The proposal is part of efforts to enhance administrative efficiency and regional representation in the state.
