Delta South Senatorial Ticket Hearing Set for July 6

The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled a definitive hearing for July 6 regarding the legal dispute over the Delta South senatorial ticket. The case involves Princ Michael Diden, who is contesting the purported declaration of Joel Onowakpo as the winner of the APC primary election held on May 18, 2026.

Diden, represented by senior advocate Bankol Joel Akomolaf, accuses Onowakpo of manipulating the election results and making false declarations. The court noted that Onowakpo's legal representative, Barrister Habe Lawal, had not served a defense statement in a timely manner.

Justice Moham Garba Umar intervened to allow for an adjournment to facilitate the exchange of necessary documents. Diden claims he won the primary with 96,893 votes against Onowakpo's 31,918 votes, asserting that the results were misrepresented to the public, particularly through viral media.
