FG Reaffirms Commitment to Democracy Ahead of June 12

On June 12, 2026, Nigeria will commemorate its 27th Democracy Day, a significant occasion marking the country's democratic journey. In a statement issued on Friday, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris emphasized the Federal Government's commitment to strengthening democratic governance and promoting national unity.

This statement followed a special Juma prayer service, which provided an opportunity for Nigerians to seek divine guidance and reflect on their roles in sustaining peace and stability. Idris highlighted the importance of unity and active citizen participation in addressing the challenges facing the nation.

He also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by heroes of democracy, particularly Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola. The minister reiterated the government's dedication under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deepen democracy and foster national cohesion, urging citizens to embrace unity and dialogue to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
