Kalu: Nigeria's Democracy Strengthening Amid Challenges

On Democracy Day, Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian Assembly, Benjamin Kalu, addressed the growth of Nigeria's democratic institutions despite facing economic pressures, security concerns, and political contests over the past 27 years. During a church service in Abuja, Kalu remarked that democracy has taken root in Nigeria, making it one of Africa's largest influential democracies.

He noted the evolution of the electoral process and increasing citizen participation in governance. Kalu praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to strengthening democratic governance, implementing reforms, and stabilizing the economy.

He highlighted significant strides made in attracting foreign investment, advancing tax reform, and improving public finance. Kalu reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to enacting laws that promote economic growth, social justice, and education, urging Nigerians to reject cynicism and work together for a prosperous future.
