Deputy Speaker Kalu Receives Three National Honors

In 2026, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and representative of Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State, was honored with three significant national awards for his exemplary legislative service. The Sun named him the recipient of The Sun Legislative Icon Award 2026, with the formal presentation scheduled for November 13, 2026, in Lagos.

Additionally, Kalu was recognized as the DTN@100 Lawmaker of the Year by the Daily Times of Nigeria, with the awards ceremony set for September 3, 2026, in Abuja. The New Telegraph also nominated him for its inaugural award, citing his contributions to democracy and legislative engagement since his election in 2019, including his leadership as Chairman of the House Committee on Constitution Review.
