Kalu Urges House Press Corps for Balanced Reporting

On Thursday, during the inauguration of the newly elected House Press Corps, Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, called on journalists to engage in balanced reporting that showcases Nigeria's achievements and holds the government accountable for its shortcomings. Kalu emphasized that the media plays a crucial role in enhancing Nigeria's global image by focusing on areas of progress and constructive criticism of government policies.

He noted the importance of credible reporting in helping citizens understand and appreciate democratic governance. Kalu urged the parliamentary press to continue informing Nigerians about legislative activities and to uphold values of accuracy and fairness in their profession.

Akin Rotimi Jr., Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, commended the leadership of the House for promoting open access and improving media engagement. The newly inaugurated executive members of the House Press Corps include Gboyega Onadiran as Chairman and Christiana Ekpa as Vice Chairman, among others.
