Labour Party Faction Defies Court Order, Holds Congress Amidst Legal Challenges

Despite a court order, Juliu Abur's faction of the Labour Party proceeded with nationwide ward congresses on December 2, 2025, in defiance of legal challenges and internal divisions. The faction led by Governor Alex Otti, through spokesperson Obiora Ifoh, accused Abur's camp of unlawfully conducting the congresses in Abia State.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of Abur's faction confirmed the congresses' smooth conduct and impressive turnout, dismissing allegations of falsehood and chaos within the party. The court order restraining Abur's faction from proceeding with the congresses has sparked a legal and political dispute within the party.
