Abia State Court Halts Labour Party's Factional Congresses Amid Leadership Dispute

The Abia State High Court has issued an interim order halting the factional local government congresses planned by the Labour Party, led by Nenadi Usman. The court order, obtained in a suit filed by Hon.

Emmanuel Nwaez Otti, restrains the Abure-led National Working Committee from proceeding with the congresses. The Labour Party has called on the Inspector General of Police to arrest and prosecute anyone involved in organizing or participating in the congresses scheduled for December.

The party has also notified INEC of the situation to dissociate itself from any illegitimate activities.
