Despite Disharmony, PDP Leaders Seek to Calm Tension Ahead of 2027

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders are working to address growing internal discord ahead of the 2027 general election. PDP Governors and key stakeholders are focusing on reconciliation, unity, and strategizing to position the party as a strong opposition force.

A strategic meeting in Zamfara State, hosted by Governor Dauda Lawal, aims to shape the party's direction, seek reconciliation, and design an electoral strategy. The party is under pressure to present a united front, with discussions on zoning the presidential candidate to reflect the nation's mood.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is being urged to join the presidential race, but there are divisions within the party between supporters of the current leadership and those loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike. Chief Bode George emphasized the need for decisive action against those undermining party unity.

The party is preparing for a national convention in November 2025 to further solidify its position.
