Tinubu's Secret Meeting with French General on Security

On March 22, 2023, President Bola Tinubu conducted a closed-door security meeting with Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede and a French General at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting, which began around 2 PM, aimed to intensify collaboration between Nigeria and France concerning the country's security situation.

Attendees included the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Director General of the Department of State Services, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, and the Inspector General of Police. This meeting followed a deadly incident in Borno State where six soldiers were killed by an improvised explosive device planted by insurgents.

The discussions also included military equipment support from France, as confirmed by sources close to the presidency. No photographs or visuals were released from the meeting, and the identity of the French General remains undisclosed.
