U.S. Forces Arrive in Nigeria to Support Military Training

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria confirmed the arrival of approximately 100 U.S. military personnel at Bauchi Airfield to support the Armed Forces of Nigeria in ongoing capacity-building efforts. Major General Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information, stated that this deployment follows a formal request from the Federal Government of Nigeria for military training, technical assistance, and intelligence sharing.

The collaboration aims to strengthen Nigeria's operational capabilities to confront terrorist threats and improve the protection of vulnerable communities nationwide. Major General Uba emphasized that the U.S. personnel will serve strictly in an advisory and training capacity and will not be deployed for combat operations.

The Nigerian government will maintain direct control over the operations in close coordination with the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Joint training exercises focusing on intelligence cooperation and counter-terrorism tactics are expected to commence soon, reinforcing Nigeria's commitment to degrading and ultimately defeating terrorist groups threatening the country's sovereignty and security.
