Nigerian Military to Arraign Officers Over Alleged Coup Plot Against Tinubu

The Nigerian Defense Headquarters announced plans to arraign military personnel indicted for alleged misconduct, including a coup plot against Bola Tinubu. The investigation led to the arrest of 16 officers, ranging from captains to brigadier generals, accused of planning to overthrow the government.

The current Director of Defense Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, dismissed the coup plot reports as internal disciplinary issues. Major General Samaila Uba oversaw the investigation and forwarded the findings to superior authorities for formal arraignment before a military judicial panel.

The Defense Headquarters stressed the importance of upholding military discipline and ensuring fair due process in handling the case. Security sources revealed breaches around the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with alleged plotters gaining unauthorized access to secure facilities.

Pro-democracy activists called for fair treatment and proper medical care for the detained officers. The incident highlights concerns about military loyalty, internal security protocols, and the preservation of democratic governance in Nigeria.
